Aravindasavam is a liquid Ayurvedic medicine used in children to improve digestion, body weight and strength. It is also used as a general tonic for all childhood complaints. 

ROLE OF INGREDINETS;

Terminalia chebula - promote healing from a number of conditions ranging from sore throat and allergies to constipation and indigestion. Haritaki is rich in vitamin C and substances found to have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

Terminalia belerica -  is used to protect the liver and to treat respiratory conditions, including respiratory tract infections, cough, and sore throat. Terminalia chebula is used for dysentery. Terminalia bellerica and Terminalia chebula are used as a lotion for sore eyes.

Emblica officinalis - as antioxidant, immune modulatory, antipyretic, analgesic, cytoprotective, anti ulser, immune modulatory, anti inflammatory, antitussive and gastroprotective.

Vetivera zizanioides - used as cooling agent, tonic and blood purifier. It is used to treat many skin disorders and is known to have calming effect on the nervous system. 

Gmelina arborea - wound-healing and antidiarrheal properties. Various studies demonstrated that G. arborea and its constituents possess several pharmacological activities like anti-oxidant, anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory, antiulcer, analgesic, anti-nociceptive, anticancer and wound healing activities.

Nymphaea stellata - used in the Ayurveda and Siddha systems of medicines for the treatment of diabetes, inflammation, liver disorders, urinary disorders, menorrhagia, blenorrhagia, menstruation problem, as an aphrodisiac, and as a bitter tonic.

Rubia cordifolia -  uses in skin diseases like eczema, dermatitis and skin ulcers.

Sida cordifolia - is used to treat asthma, tuberculosis, the common cold, flu, headaches, nasal congestion, cough and wheezing, urinary tract infections, sore mouth, and fluid retention (edema).

Nardostachys jatamansi - has been medically used to treat insomnia and blood, circulatory, and mental disorders. Some preparations of the plant have been used as a heptotonic, cardiotonic, analgesic, and diuretic in the Unani system of medicine.

Hemidesmus indicus -  is demulcent, alterative, astringent, diaphoretic, diuretic, tonic, anti-pyretic, and blood purifier. It is used in leprosy, skin diseases, fever, asthma, bronchitis, syphilis, pruritus and other urinary diseases, chronic rheumatism, and leucorrhoea.

Hedychium spicatum -  is aromatic, acidic, bitter, pungent, carminative, stomachic, stimulant, expectorant, anti-asthmatic, antiseptic, and anti-inflammatory. It is useful in asthma, bronchitis, vomiting, dyspepsia, and inflammations.

Ipomoea turpethum -  is commonly used since centuries in Ayurvedic system of Medicine to treat fevers, edema, ascites, anorexia, constipation, hepatosplenomegaly, intoxication, haemorrhoids, fistula, anemia, obesity, abdominal tumors, ulcers/wounds, worm infestation, pruritus and other skin disorders.

Indigofera tinctoria - is used to treat a wide range of disorders such as epilepsy, nervous disorders, asthma, bronchitis, fever, stomach pain, liver diseases, kidney and spleen diseases, skin conditions, wounds sores, hemorrhoids, gonorrhea, syphilis, snake bites, etc. The plant is also used as cover crop and green manure.

Trichosanthes dioica - is used as tonic, febrifuge, and in subacute cases of enlargement of liver and spleen; in Charaka Samhita, leaves and fruits are used for treating alcoholism and jaundice. Leaves are used in edema and alopecia.  It is also used as antipyretic, diuretic, cardiotonic, and laxative.

Fumaria parviflora -  used as a laxative and diuretic, and as a treatment for dermatologic conditions such as eczema. Limited evidence suggests that it may be beneficial in hepatobiliary disorders, and F. officinalis is approved in Germany for colic pain.

Terminalia arjuna - has been used to balance the three “humors”: kapha, pitta, and vata. It has also been used for asthma, bile duct disorders, scorpion stings, and poisonings. T

Madhuca indica - is used as Anti diabetic, antiulcer, hepato protective, anti pyretic, anti fertility, analgesic, anti oxidant, swelling, inflammation, piles, emetic, dermatological, laxative, tonic, anti burn, anti earth worm, wound healing headache and many more problems.

Glycyrrhiza glabra L. (Licorice) is a small perennial herb that has been traditionally used to treat many diseases, such as respiratory disorders, hyperdipsia, epilepsy, fever, sexual debility, paralysis, stomach ulcers, rheumatism, skin diseases, hemorrhagic diseases, and jaundice.

Selinium tenuifolium - root is regarded as a nerve sedative. The volatile oil from the roots contains an acetylene compound, which is used as a medicine in mental disorder. The oil possesses antibacterial and analgesic properties.

Elettaria cardamomum -  is used to cure indigestion, nausea, vomiting and used to expel out phlegm out of body. It is also used as laxative and used to prevent stomach pain, flatulence and gripping. Seed oil is very good for digestive system.

Saccharum officinarum - treatment of jaundice, hemorrhage, dysuria, anuria, and other urinary diseases.

Acorus calamus - is also used as a calming medicine (sedative), to induce sweating, and to treat rheumatoid arthritis and stroke.

INDICATIONS;

Aravindasavam is used children’s problems like child does not eat well, lack of proper body weight, lack of strength.

It is also used in treating Grahadosha – psychological problems of children like – crying without reason, throwing tantrums etc.

Good as a general Cleansing medicine in all chronic conditions.

DOSAGE AND ADJUVANTS;

Take  3 – 12 ml once or twice a day, after food with equal quantity of water or as directed by Ayurvedic expert.
