SUKUMARA GRITHAM;

Sukumara Gritham is an ayurvedic medicine for vaginal pain. This is a medicine that can be helpful in treating vulval pain. Whenever one experiences sharp pain in a private area, it can be a result of infection or some other problems. Whatever may be the problem, this medicine can be helpful in treating problems related to the female reproductive system.

Boils and abscesses are problems that can occur anywhere and can be extremely painful. When they develop in the vagina, they can be extremely painful and cause distress. Ayurvedic treatment for boils and abscesses can be given by administering this medicine. This medicine is helpful for abscess treatment, liver abscess treatment, treatment for a hernia, hemorrhoids treatment, and ascites treatment.

It is beneficial for the female reproductive system and helps to stimulate menstrual flow. It is helpful in treating pain during periods. It can be helpful in managing mood swings during this time. One of its beneficial uses is in treating delayed periods and prolonged menses.

It should be consumed 5 to 10 g twice daily by adults or as per the instructions of the physician. It is a polyherbal formulation made into the form of ghee or gritham  as termed in Ayurveda

ROLE OF INGREDIENTS;

Boerhavia diffusa - is said to cure disorders like intestinal colic, kidney disorders, cough, hemorrhoids, skin diseases, alcoholism, insomnia, eye diseases, asthma and jaundice

Aegle Marmelos is anti-inflammatory in nature. Its extracts when applied on the exposed area, help to cure inflammation. Aegle Marmelos leaf juice with honey can prove useful for treating fever. Aegle Marmelos can be used to treat tuberculosis.

Oroxylum indicum - prevention and treatment of several diseases, such as jaundice, arthritic and rheumatic problems, gastric ulcers, tumors, respiratory diseases, diabetes, and diarrhea and dysentery, among others.

Gmelina arborea -was wide in use as anthelmintic, antimicrobial, anti-diabetic, anti-aging, analgesic, diuretic, hepato-protective and antiepileptic agent. 

Stereospermum colais - indigestion, hiccups, vomiting, diarrhea, pain, fever, diabetes, liver disorders, and asthma.

Tribulus terrestris - gonorrhea, liver disease (hepatitis), inflammation, joint pain (rheumatism), leprosy, coughs, headache, dizziness (vertigo), chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), and enhancing athletic performance. It is also used for stimulating appetite and as an astringent, tonic, and mood enhancer.

Withania sominifera - commonly called ashwagandha, is a winter cherry tropical to the Solanaceae family that is used in treating a wide variety of illnesses including asthma, diabetes, hypertension, stress, arthritic diseases, and cancer.

Leptadenia reticulata -  is a traditional medicinal plant species widely used to treat various ailments such as tuberculosis, hematopoiesis, emaciation, cough, dyspnea, fever, burning sensation, night blindness, cancer, and dysentery.

Zingiber officinale - is one of the most widely used natural products consumed as a spice and medicine for treating nausea, dysentery, heartburn, flatulence, diarrhea, loss of appetite, infections, cough, and bronchitis.

Piper chaba - is most commonly used to treat chronic bronchitis, asthma, constipation, gonorrhea, paralysis of the tongue, diarrhea, cholera, chronic malaria, viral hepatitis, respiratory infections, stomachache, bronchitis, diseases of the spleen, cough, and tumors.

Ricinus communis - medicine such as abdominal disorders, arthritis, backache, muscle aches, bilharziasis, chronic backache and sciatica, chronic headache, constipation, expulsion of placenta, gallbladder pain, period pain, menstrual cramps, rheumatism, sleeplessness, and insomnia.

Asparagus Racemosus - for upset stomach (dyspepsia), constipation, stomach spasms, and stomach ulcers. It is also used for fluid retention, pain, anxiety, cancer, diarrhea, bronchitis, tuberculosis, dementia, and diabetes.

Imperata cylindrica -  is naturally antibacterial and has astringent properties, so it has been used to treat skin ailments and wounds.

Glycyrrhiza glabra L. (Licorice) is a small perennial herb that has been traditionally used to treat many diseases, such as respiratory disorders, hyperdipsia, epilepsy, fever, sexual debility, paralysis, stomach ulcers, rheumatism, skin diseases, hemorrhagic diseases, and jaundice.

Madhuca indica -  is used as Anti diabetic, antiulcer, hepato protective, anti pyretic, anti fertility, analgesic, anti oxidant, swelling, inflammation, piles, emetic, dermatological, laxative, tonic, anti burn, anti earth worm, wound healing headache and many more problems.

Vitis vinifera - used for treating sore throats, and raisins were given as treatments for consumption (tuberculosis), constipation and thirst. Ripe grapes were used for the treatment of cancer, cholera, smallpox, nausea, skin and eye infections as well as kidney and liver diseases.

Cuminum cyminum - are widely used as the spice for their distinctive aroma, they are also commonly used in traditional medicine to treat a variety of diseases, including chronic diarrhoea and dyspepsia, acute gastritis, diabetes, and cancer.

INDICATIONS;

It is used as medicine and also in preparatory procedures called snehakarma for the treatment of lower abdominal pain in women, abscesses, hemorrhoids, menstrual pain, inflammation, constipation. This will show better results in hernia and vata based gulma. For those constipated by nature, this will do well if taken daily.

In women, it is usually given as a daily tonic in lower doses for overall good health.  It is also used to improve skin complexion.

It is used in gynecological disorders such as painful periods, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, PCOS.

DOSAGE AND ADJUVANTS;

Take Quarter to half teaspoon with water, usually before food, once or twice a day, or as directed by an Ayurvedic doctor.

For Panchakarma preparation – Snehana procedure, the dose depends on the disease status.
